Mini 4 Pro main: 1/1.3-inch CMOS · 48 MP · 24 mm, 4K/60 HDR, 4K/100. Air 3 main: 1/1.3-inch CMOS · 48 MP · 24 mm, 4K/60 HDR, 4K/100. You would notice sensor class in low light; you would not notice the word 4K if both already do it. Optical telephoto is only on Air 3 — that is a different picture, not a sharper crop.
Do I need to register the Air 3 in the UK?
Air 3 is C1, takeoff about 720 g (C1. Flyer ID required.). In the UK a Flyer ID is required from 100 g, and an Operator ID is required from 100 g with a camera or from 250 g — this airframe needs both. Which is better in wind?
Air 3 carries more mass into DJI’s published wind figure (Mini 4 Pro 10.7 m/s, Air 3 12 m/s). On a UK headland that is often the whole decision. Lab Level numbers that match can still feel different because weight is not in the level name.
Which is better for travel?
Mini 4 Pro if the constraint is a bag and UK class (C0, 249 g). Air 3 if you will accept C1 and 720 g for the extra camera.
Can I keep my Mini 4 Pro batteries, controller or ND filters?
You can keep: DJI RC-N2; DJI RC 2. You cannot take: Mini 4 Pro Intelligent Flight Battery; Mini 4 Pro ND set. O4 phone clamp for Mini 4 Pro and Air 3. Not RC-N1, not RC-N3, not a Mini 5 Pro stick.
How much more does it cost?
DJI UK RRP (as of 2026-08-31): Mini 4 Pro £589, Air 3 £869 — £280 more for the Air 3. Street, eBay bands and CeX trade-in are on the board; they move.
Who should buy which?
Mini 4 Pro: Travel and parks; stay in the Mini class on purpose. Air 3: Dual camera and wind; you accepted C1.
Should I leave the Mini class for Air 3?
DPReview’s split is still the one people quote: Mini 4 Pro if you want sub-250 g A1 and true vertical; Air 3 if you will actually use a 70 mm optical camera and fly coast or city wind. Air 3 is C1, 720 g, dual 1/1.3. Batteries, ND and RC do not swap (RC-N2 flies both Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro — firmware on the stick has to list the aircraft).
